Conservation and Service Projects

Cub Scouts isn't all fun and games (well, it's mostly fun...).  Cubs need to learn about the environment, about Leaving No Trace, about service to others, and more.  Toward that end, Pack 4 tries to do 2 Conservation Projects each year, focusing on preserving and enhancing our natural heritage.  Such projects may include litter collection, tree and shrub planting, bridge building on a pathway, and other projects conducted with experienced Naturalists and Leaders.  Some past projects include:

Cleaning up the stream and banks at the Lockport Town Park

Building a trail bridge at Darien Lakes State Park  (Scheduled for September 20th this year.  Clink link to the left)

Cleaning up the Memorial Garden at Camp Windy Meadows

Collecting litter and trash, and planting trees and shrubs along a section of the 18 Mile Creek.

In addition, service to others is emphasized in our Service projects, which include:

Helping bag groceries for Thanksgiving at St Johns Outreach Center

Planting a garden and building fences at St Johns Outreach Center
