Cub Winter Fun Day

The Iroquois Trail Council's Cub Winter Fun Day invites Cubs from all Packs in the Iroquois Trail Council to engage in a day of fun and games.  Some events in the past include:

.

1. THE “ROGER CLEMENS” SNOWBALL THROW - All Cubs in each den get one throw for distance. Each den will get 6 throws which will be added and averaged. The throws of 6 boys are recorded. The dens with the highest average throws will take home the gold. (Distance is the key)

2. THE “SIT, RUN, AND GUN” TUBE RACE - Maximum of 1 boy per tube.  Each boy will have their own tube and will be timed on how fast they can slide down the hill.  As each boy goes down the hill, his times will be recorded. The fastest time of all the tubes in that den will be recorded and entered as you den’s score. (Time is the key) (More tubes, flags, and possible walkie-talkies will be provided.)

3. THE “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE” NUGGET RUN - A straight time run to a barrel or pile of creative items in one or more locations. A team of cub’s scouts must run with one leader to the barrel or pile. The event is judged on the correct item being obtained and the total time to complete the run. (Time is the key).

4. THE “MULE PULL” TUG OF WAR - Each den competes against another den in their class until they lose. (Single elimination).  As in previous years, all dens of each class will be present at the same time.   No confusion, no coming back. Classes of Tigers, Wolfs, Bears and Webelos will compete until finished. Then the dens can go to any of the other 6 events of their choice. (Strength and endurance is the key)

5. THE “IDITAROD ALASKAN” TOBOGGAN RACE - This will be a race against time. You will begin at a starting point, half of the boys pushing and half riding or some variation.  Once you get to a specific     point, the boys will switch positions; the toboggan will turn around and you will head for home. (Time is the key)

6. THE “LARRY BIRD” TUBE TOSS-This will be a test of accuracy to throw a basketball at a hanging inner tube. Each den will get 12 tosses to try a get the ball through the hole. Points will also be given for tube hits, and going through the hole. The total amount of times the ball goes through the hole or the number of times the ball just hits the tube, will be recorded. There may be ties and multiple ribbons may be awarded. There may be different distances for the tigers scouts and the other groups. (Accuracy is the key)

7. THE “BEN ROETHLISBERGER” FOOTBALL THROW-This will be a test of strength and distance. EACH boy will throw the football once for distance with a total of 6 throws per den. The distances will be added and averaged and the dens with the highest average
